The higher the building , the net floor area reduces and materials investment per m2 increases. So its not by definition the best sustainable solution . But its impressive to see this tower going up: completely from wood: nearing the highest point, as tallest wooden building in the world. Its in Bergen, Norway, left on the picture. The race is on, after some early projects in Sweden, and recently the life cycle tower by Cree, and Stadthaus in London by Waugh Thistleton architects and there are two more and higher buildings in preparation ( one in Vienna) but for the moment this one will set the record . Showing that biobased/renewable materials can do the job as well, with much lower environmental impacts compared to mineral and metal alternatives.
